Lohman Stables is a full care hunter/jumper show barn located in Poolesville, MD. Lohman Stables caters to junior and adult students. Alan Lohman also accepts horses into the training and sales programs. Lohman Stables travels most weeks of the year throughout USEF Zones 2 and 3 to NCHJA, VHSA, MHSA and CPHJA hunter/jumper shows. Lohman Stables attends Vermont Summer Festival each July and also attends Ocala or WEF in the winters.

Alan started Lohman Stables Inc. in 2004 – a hunter/jumper barn designed to help riders and horses of all ages excel in the show ring. Originally from Waynesboro, PA, Alan became interested in riding through his grandfather, Tuttie Chadwell. Alan graduated from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College). After riding as a junior with Carolyn Krome and Ken Krome at Persimmon Tree Farm in Westminster, MD, Alan became their assistant trainer. The training and industry involvement that Alan received from the Kromes prepared him to start his own Training, Showing and Sales business in Poolesville, MD in 2004. Alan has his R-judging card in Hunters and Equitation. He also course designs frequently through out the country at shows such as Pin Oak Charity Horse Show (TX), Duke Children’s Benefit Horse Show (NC), Keswick Hunt Club Horse Show(VA), Maryland Horse and Pony Show (MD), Vermont Summer Festival and Swan Lake June AA Horse Show (PA). Alan has qualified numerous horses, ponies and riders for USEF Pony Finals, Devon, Pennsylvania National, Washington International, as well as many local and national medal finals. He has been President of the Maryland Horse Show Association. Alan resides in Poolesville with his wife, Jessi.

In 2009, Kathy started travelling with Lohman Stables up and down the East Coast to shows. Kathy has been a student of Alan’s for 5 years, doing well in the Adult Amateurs with Classic Fit and more recently, bringing along her lovely young Thoroughbred gelding, Fielder’s Choice. Kathy’s up-beat personality is truly appreciated on long horse show days!
